Materials & finishing options Choose the metal. Understand what the finish adds.

Start with the material.

The environment, cleaning routine, and intended use help determine the right choice.

304 stainless steel

Acme's primary material

A versatile choice for cooking grids, foodservice racks, and baskets where corrosion resistance and routine cleaning matter.

316 stainless steel

More demanding environments

Added molybdenum improves corrosion resistance. Consider it for salt exposure or more demanding chemical conditions, subject to review.

Bright basic steel

A practical coated option

Low-carbon steel for holders, displays, and formed parts; typically paired with a suitable coating when rust protection is needed.

Match the finish to the job.

Passivation and degreasing in-house. Additional finishes coordinated with finishing partners.

Raw / degreased
Raw is uncoated. Degreasing removes process oils without adding a protective coating.
Passivation
Removes free iron from stainless steel to support corrosion resistance; it does not create a polished finish.
Electropolishing
Smooths and brightens stainless steel, improving cleanability and supporting corrosion resistance.
Powder coat / paint
Adds color and a protective barrier; select the coating for the environment and expected wear.
Zinc / yellow zinc
Helps protect carbon steel from rust; the specified plating and post-treatment determine performance.
Chrome plating
Adds a bright plated appearance; substrate preparation and the plating system determine durability.
PVC / plastisol / Plasti Dip
Flexible coating options for cushioning, grip, and protection from metal-to-metal contact.
Teflon-type coatings
Nonstick, low-friction surfaces for suitable applications; temperature and contact requirements must be confirmed.
